New poll: Massachusetts residents lack confidence in federal government
Majorities support term limits for justices, electing President by popular vote.
Before recent rulings, residents were split on U.S. Supreme Court.
As Supreme Court rulings and congressional hearings into the January 6 insurrection roil Washington, new polling from The MassINC Polling Group finds that a majority of Massachusetts residents have not much or no confidence in the federal government’s ability to respond to the needs of the American people. The survey of 1,002 residents conducted June 8-12, 2022 — before the recent Supreme Court decisions overturning gun control and Roe v. Wade — found that residents are split on the U.S. Supreme Court and supportive of several democratic reforms to the federal government and elections. MPG President Steve Koczela discusses the findings on this week’s episode of The Horse Race.
