Listening to the Commonwealth

MassVoice is a panel of Massachusetts residents created to share their experiences and provide insights on topics of importance to their communities. Panelists are recruited from across the state to provide a reliable, representative, and cost-effective sample of the population. Background

For decades, the main way of conducting public opinion research was by calling people on the telephone. Phone polling still works, even as fewer and fewer people are picking up to take surveys. This makes finding phone respondents more difficult and expensive. That added cost can put phone polling out of reach for many clients.

In response, many researchers have turned to commercial online panels: essentially, databases of respondents who have signed up to take surveys. These are more affordable than phone polling, but they have limitations — for instance, a commercial online panel may not have enough respondents to cover a single city or to reach an adequate number in specific demographic groups. 

MassVoice will bridge these gaps. It is a high-quality, Massachusetts-only panel providing high quality, reliable results. The panel offers residents opportunities to directly communicate their experiences, insights, and preferences to state and community leaders. In turn, clients have a reliable and efficient approach to gauging public opinion in Massachusetts. The MassINC Polling Group is managing the respondents through every stage of the process to ensure a trusted, reliable sample and accurate results. 

For panelists

If you have taken one of our recent phone polls and agreed to be re-contacted for future research, thank you! We’ll be reaching out soon with survey and focus group opportunities. It is our priority to ensure a smooth experience and present topics of interest and importance to you. Panelists can expect about 1-2 survey invitations per month. Incentives for participation will be available on a project-by-project basis. If you have additional questions, please contact panel@massincpolling.com. 

We take your privacy very seriously. We will not share or sell any personal information, including your name, email address, telephone number, or any other personal information that is non-public with any telemarketer or marketing agencies. The information you share will only be used to contact you for surveys or focus groups, if you decide to opt-in.

We’d love to help with your project, and can help you determine the best approach and whether it includes MassVoice or other methods. We conduct many surveys among both the general population as well as harder-to-reach groups like parents or residents of specific communities.
