Board Evolution: Meet the Leaders Shaping the Future of The MassINC Polling Group

Boston, MA – December 6, 2023 – The MassINC Polling Group, New England’s leading nonpartisan public opinion research firm is pleased to announce a new Board President and the addition of three new members to its board of directors: Tripp Jones, Beth Lindstrom, and Darrell Byers. Aimee Flynn, a longtime board member, has been elevated to the role of President.

“MPG is entering a new phase of our company’s growth and we are thrilled to have experienced leadership like Aimee, Tripp, Beth, and Darrell shaping the future of the company,” said Steve Koczela, Founder and President of The MassINC Polling Group. “Their combined experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand our work both in Massachusetts and beyond.”

Recent MPG clients include state and local governments across New England, the Barr Foundation, The Shah Family Foundation, communications and strategy firms, advocacy and political organizations, leading media outlets, and major corporations around the country.

Aimee Flynn - President. Aimee brings nearly two decades of public, non-profit, and private sector management to this role, including her time as VP of Operations and Finance at MassINC when The MassINC Polling Group was formed. Having served for both Democratic and Republican public officials, and with years of experience in policy development, Aimee is dedicated to the mission of MPG to elevate the public’s voice on issues that matter in Massachusetts and beyond.

Tripp Jones. Tripp has spent his career working to expand economic and social mobility and opportunity for underserved populations. He is currently the founder and principal of 21c, a strategy and advisory firm assisting private sector entrepreneurs and operators, public sector innovators, funders/investors, and the media. 21c helps its clients to design and implement business development plans, influence public policy and discourse, and design and manage high impact advocacy and funding efforts. Tripp was founding director of MassINC and has played leadership roles in the public and private sectors, helping to shape public policy and to create and grow social impact organizations locally and nationally.

Beth Lindstrom. Beth’s career spans politics, government, and entrepreneurship. She was the first female Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery, which, during her tenure, was recognized as the most successful lottery in the world. Under Governor Mitt Romney, she served as Secretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, overseeing seven state agencies. As a founder, CEO, business developer, and advisor, Beth has worked with start-up companies locally and nationally. Beth was the first female Executive Director of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee, Campaign Manager for U.S. Senator Scott Brown's victory in 2010, and President of the Commonwealth Future Political Action Committee that helped to support Governor Charlie Baker's candidacy in 2014.

Darrell Byers. An experienced leader in nonprofit and small business advancement, Darrell is currently CEO of Interise. Interise is working to create an inclusive economy by supporting established small businesses that are located in low-income communities or are minority owned. He came to Interise from Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, where he was Chief Advancement Officer; and has previously held positions as Vice President at Earthjustice, Vice Chancellor of Advancement at UMass Boston, and Vice President at Caritas Norwood Hospital. He received the Eleanor Collier Award from the educational organization Case District 1 for contributing to his profession. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board at the Partnership for Financial Equity. Darrell holds a B.A. in History from the College of the Holy Cross. 

Current board members include Northeast Regional HUD Administrator Juana Matias, MassINC CEO Joe Kriesberg, and MPG President Steve Koczela.
