Update: We have received confirmation that the favorable / unfavorable ratio is 59/24, resolving the earlier ambiguity. Posted April 5, 2014.

There has been some disagreement and ambiguity concerning The Hill’s description of a DCCC poll of the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District’s Democratic Primary. Specifically, the description of Tierney’s favorables is ambiguous in the article.

According to the poll, 83 percent of voters were familiar with Tierney, while just 15 percent had heard of Moulton. Of the voters familiar with Tierney, 59 percent viewed him favorably.

The question is whether the 59 percent is among the 83 percent who have heard of Tierney  (which would mean the total favorables are 49 percent) , or if it is among all Democratic primary voters. Here is the DCCC memo itself, which reflects the same ambiguity.
